BEFORE THE RACE

DURING THE RACE

  • Key moments: Alonso dominated the race from the start, capitalizing on his pole position and Schumacher’s absence at the front of the grid. Kimi Räikkönen (McLaren) closely pursued Alonso during the first half of the race but was forced to retire due to a mechanical failure. This allowed Juan Pablo Montoya (McLaren) and David Coulthard (Red Bull) to move up. Coulthard finished on the podium, giving Red Bull their first-ever Formula 1 podium finish. Despite starting from the back, Michael Schumacher delivered an impressive performance, climbing up to fifth place.
